Patchwerk Studios started out with a very simple goal in mind destroy the stigma of a staving artist by creating a safe co-working space for artists to share and thrive among other practicing artists, creativity breeding creativity, all while doing freelance contracts among themselves. As more and more disciplines came into the studio spaces the all too common theme of the “Starving Artist” began to reemerge. In many cases, in an all too real way. Thats when the realization set in that simply providing the space was not enough to support the artists. We went back to the drawing board and Patchwerk was reborn. This version with the increasingly lofty goal of not only providing a space but bringing in the contracts under one name and deliberating based on skill set and passion. There, now were all working “Artists”, its the “Starving” stigma was not yet conquered. Version after version of capitalist budgets and trickle-down style plans fell before us as we attempted to rid ourselves of this every growing issue. Finally, One night, Mitchell took a hint from Karl Marx and the problem solved itself! With this new socialist inspired plan we created a model that could support every artist in the studio and provide growth at the same time. This model is kindly referred to as the working hands model. We put the artists through a heavy vetting process to test their dedication and more importantly passion in relation to the art as well as how they would fit into the mold of existing artists and designers. This allows us to create a value for the artist to patchwerks and grow the company very organically. Today we have a team of 6 artists working hard to tell your story to the community .
